What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic modality that was founded by Francine Shapiro in the 1990’s. It is a frontline treatment for processing through tramautic events, particularly when we recognize that out present-day functioning is being inapropriately influenced by something from our pasts. The work Franchine Shapiro did to develop EMDR as a treatment and the influence of other researchers over time have led it to become one of the most researched and most clinically validated forms of therapy. It has been recognized by numerous medical bodies as a positive and effective treatment.
